The way of speaking in Spanish is full of doubt and lack of responsibility. I find it quite interesting and funny. There are numerous words in Spanish that mean "possibibly" or "maybe" and they're used quite often. If you're asking if something is going to happen or if someone is going to do something it's usually "tal vez", "quizás" or "es posible". It can get quite frustrating if you're dealing with the government or if you're trying to make definite plans. So far, it's only been amusing to us. I'm sure if we were trying to get a visa, etc. we would pull out our hair.
In Spanish, it is also the rule that you don't take responsibility for things that happen by accident. Like, if you drop and break a glass, in Spanish you would say, "el vaso se me cayó" (the glass fell itself from me) or if you forgot something at home you would say, "se me olvidó" (it forgot itself from me). I find this quite funny and enlightening at the same time, especially when thinking about my students...
